Beach Girl in the BIG City

I would’ve never guessed that I would be working on the 46th floor of a sky rise building in downtown Los Angeles.  How ridiculous do I feel when I step outside to grab lunch or I walk from our main 333 building to our second 400 building across the street.  I begin to notice a slight kink in my neck from looking up at the ginormous buildings above me.  I feel like the biggest tourist dressed in business attire.  And let’s not forget the sight of me tromping around in high heels that are killing my feet by 2pm.  I’m sure I look pretty pathetic and clearly out of place.  Besides my aching feet, the elevators make my ears pop and when I have to ride them a lot I get a slightly dizzy head.  Thanks to my ‘pure bread’ genes, I seem to get motion sickness… Dramamine is my friend.  As stressed out as I get thanks to the daily 3.5-4 hour commute, I enjoy the spontaneity, hustle and bustle, and the constant feeling of being pushed outside of my comfort zone.  I only hope that big cities come with big opportunities.  Oh yeah, and I guess I can’t complain too much about the view.

So, our West LA office is a bit more mellow.  I must admit, this office is like a baby step from office atmospheres that I am used to, to the madness of downtown LA.  I definitely like this office…. The vibe is totally chill.  J  However, the commute is definitely worse… talk about Carmagedon.

HOME SWEET HOME is my new cubie in Irvine!  Going from an office to a cube is an adjustment… I feel like I am in a total fish bowl.  However, this cube is pretty darn sweet if I say so myself.  I am definitely happy in Irvine.  Our Irvine campus is huge… lot’s of outdoor space… bright… flat and spread out not up.  The landscaping is amazing… something I guess we are proud of because it was the last design of some famous landscaper.  Way cool.  Apparently my company invests in art.  Every office across the world has amazing, some bizarre, but mostly amazing art all over the place.  Way cool too.

Although I am only in my 4th week, I know that I am one happy camper with this new little job of mine.  J
